The High Fens

The High Fens are a plateau and, at almost 700 metres, they are the most elevated area in Belgium. It is often referred to as the last wilderness of Western Europe.Due to the special location and the rugged climate, many special plant and animal species can be found here. And it is a fantastic area for walking and cycling. In winter you have a much better chance of snow, there are also various winter sports areas around the cottages.

Rur in Monschau

Monschau and the Eifel

The Roer, a river that originates in the High Fens, flows through the heart of Monschau, as well known as it is loved with its beautiful, centuries-old half-timbered houses. You will find nice shops, many restaurants and terraces and in the weekends before Christmas the Christmas market is certainly worth a visit. In the spring, the wild daffodils attract thousands of visitors, who come to enjoy the yellow-colored valleys of, among others, the Holzwarche and the Perlenbach. And the Eifel has much more to offer: lovely landscapes, vistas, forests, reservoirs and of course lots of walking and cycling opportunities.
